BEE KEEPING:

Eastbourne Bee Keepers Association

An observation hive, complete with Queen bee and workers, will be the main focus on this stand with a team of experts on hand to answer questions from the crowd. A full array of honey products will be available and reference booklets for sale.

FLY DRESSING & FISHING:

The Fly Dressers Guild - Sussex branch Seeking to maintain and promote the art of tying artificial flies usually from feathers and fur, these artificial insects can be anything from a 3mm long midge to a 20mm long crane fly (daddy-long-legs). Come and see how they are made. Display in the arena at 2pm.

HEAVY HORSE DISPLAY:

Working horse Trust

The Working Horse Trust, whose objective is to promote the working heavy horse breeds and demonstrate that they will have a role to play in our modern rural economy, aims to show the use of the working horse in countryside management. THE HOUNDS:

Several packs of hounds will be presenting at the Show, including the Fox hounds, Blood hounds, Mink hounds and Beagles. Come and see them parade in the Main ring aned Country Ways ring with their hunts.

LACE MAKING:

Jennifer Abel

The beautiful art of lace making has enjoyed something of a revival over the past few years and an increasing number of people are finding it to be an absorbing hobby. Jennifer will be displaying her hobby here today.

PLUMPTON FORESTRY DISPLAY:

Paul Collins and students from Plumpton Agricultural College will have a working area in Country Ways. They will be demonstrating the use of heavy machinery for forestry work.

RUSH, CANE AND CORD CHAIR SEATING:

Demonstrating chair caning, David also has examples of restored cane, rush and cord seated chairs and stools on the stand.

SADDLERY:
Farthing Saddlery

Jackie Winchester: 01435 830440

Jackie will demonstrate all the basic skills and techniques involved in Saddlery, including bridlework, harness and basic saddle making, and will also have a display of a speciality - side saddles.

SIGN WRITER:

Ian Adams

Ian will be demonstrating his sign writing skills in the Country Ways marquee. He uses traditional techniques to produce any style of sign.

SPINNING:

Heffle Spinners

Spinning and rug making using natural wools and dyes and a display of finished goods.

STONE MASON:

Working with a range of materials such as sandstone, slate, marble and granite, Wendy will be demonstrating her stonemasonry skills throughout the day in the Country Ways marquee.

SUSSEX FERRET WELFARE SOCIETY:

The society will be brining a selection of ferrets for you to view throughout the day. They will be racing the ferrets at various times in the Country Ways area. Come along to see and learn about these exciting creatures.

TERRIER RACING:

By popular demand, the Terrier Racing will be back at the Heathfield Show. This display creates a noisy and popular attraction, it is fun and involves anyone with any breed of dog turning up and entering. The terriers love it too. Not only do they have a good chase, but if they are very lucky they can have a darned good scrap with one of the other terriers at the slightest provocation! Come and enter your dog for some fun, from 2pm and the racing starts at 2.30pm.

TRUG MEN OF HURSTMONCEUX:

Robin Tuppen

Brothers Robin and Peter Tuppen commenced business in April 1983 and found almost instant fame by attending the Garden & Leisure Exhibition in Birmingham, England in the September where they were spotted by Peter Seabrook They also found Royal patronage from the Royal Estate at Windsor Castle and continue to supply the Estate to this day! The Trugs are almost completely hand made. Demonstrations of trug making can be seen throughout the day.

UNITED RETRIEVER CLUB (SOUTHERN AREA):

Mrs P. Elliott

The Club will be demonstrating the skills of their Retrievers in the Country Ways ring. Come along and see these highly trained gun dogs in action.

VINTAGE TRACTORS & WORKING STEAM:

Tractors will be on display appearing both in 'working clothes' and in pristine condition with their proud owners standing by only too happy to talk about their machines. Steam engines with a working threshing machine will be coming up to full power. The culmination to the day will be a parade in the Main arena. This section is kindly sponsored by AGMAC. Come and see them parade in the Country Ways arena.

WALKING STICK DISPLAY:

Geoff Knight

Geoff has an amazing and extensive variety of walking sticks on display and is extremely knowledgeable. Come and investigate the different varieties and talk to Geoff about their differing uses.

WHEELWRIGHT:

A demonstration in the art of the wheelwright will take place throughout the day on this stand. Surrounded by a collection of wheels in various stages of completion come and see how an iron strap is put around a wooden wheel to hold everything in position.
